Dear Families,
We have made it to the end of Term 3! This term has been an incredibly busy and productive one, with so much to celebrate. Term 3 is always a big term in the classroom across all grades, embedding the learning from earlier in the year. 2025 has proven to be no different with our students demonstrating full engagement in the classroom, and our dedicated staff continuing to work tirelessly toward our school and student goals.
Outside of the classroom, this term has been particularly memorable with a wide range of highlights and achievements.
Undoubtedly the biggest achievement was seeing the hard work and dedication of our students and staff come to life with our fantastic production of Matilda. It was a true celebration of talent and teamwork. This will certainly be an event that we will celebrate and look back on fondly for some time. Another key highlight was our annual Swimming Carnival, also a huge success, with students showcasing great camaraderie, fair play, participation and skill in the pool and our Student Leaders stepping up into that key leadership role. Our youngest learners in Kinder and Prep embraced the great outdoors through continued Bush Adventures sessions, fostering a love for nature and hands-on discovery. It is always a highlight to see their smiling faces when they discover something new.
We are also incredibly proud of our continued success in reading. Our focused efforts on word recognition and reading fluency are yielding great results and it's wonderful to see so many of our students becoming confident, independent readers. This is a testament to the talented, dedicated and hardworking teachers and staff that we are lucky enough to have at Kingston Primary School. With our school being early adopters ready to embrace growth and change, the teaching and learning programs for our students are fully embedded ahead of Departmental timelines.
Our popular School Lunch Program has continued to be a huge sensation and we are excited to be expanding the program to four days a week beginning in Term 4. This expansion is a testament to the program's success, led by Wendy, and we will provide even more nutritious meals for our students.
Finally we have some new families who have joined us at Kingston Primary. We are delighted to welcome you to our School Community.

Kingston Primary School Welcomes Pre-Kinder Students!
We are excited to invite families to our Pre-Kindergarten Sessions throughout Term 4. If you would like to join but are not yet enrolled, and have a child turning four on or before 1 January 2026, please contact the School office as soon as possible to secure your place.
Our Pre-Kinder sessions are a wonderful opportunity for your child to explore our Kindergarten classrooms, meet their new teachers and peers and get comfortable in their new school environment.
Our Pre-Kinder sessions will run every Friday from 1:30pm to 2:30pm, starting Friday 17 October. You can find the full schedule in the table below.
This is a great chance to connect with our School Community, including our Leadership Team, School Nurse and other key staff members.

2026 Class Requests
Kingston Primary School will start planning for the next year class models, staffing and student allocations into classes early in Term 4. Teachers will be inputting vitally important academic and social data to ensure we have the best placement for your child in 2026. This will also include student friendship requests. Although we do not accept parent requests for specific teachers, if there is an educational and wellbeing defined reason for requesting a particular class, please email me at angela.crane@decyp.tas.gov.au before Wednesday 22 October. While requests are not guaranteed, we try to accommodate these wherever possible.
With Term 4 just around the corner, we have many exciting events to look forward to, including the highly anticipated opening of the Outdoor Kitchen Garden facility. I know next term will be just as exciting and full of learning opportunities! Please stay connected through our fortnightly newsletter, Social Media posts, Schoolzine, Seesaw or drop in and have a chat with one of our fabulous team.
Wishing our entire Kingston Primary School community a wonderful and well-deserved term break.
Until next time,
Ange Crane
Principal
In Term 3 students in Year 1/2 and 3/4 have been focusing their efforts on spoken Japanese through scripted role play. Scripted dialogue is a common element in Japanese culture particularly in the service industry. Students have enjoyed playing “shops” and “restaurants”, taking turns to act out the roles of service workers and customers. Students pair up to practise the dialogue with a partner, personalising the script with their own choice of item to “buy”. Some tricky words include “irashaimase!” (Welcome!) and “itadakimasu”(thank you for my food!). Students could then volunteer to perform for the class. We had a lot of fun and gained a lot of confidence with our spoken Japanese.
Kingston Beach Sailing Club will be holding Learn to Sail classes, Tackers 1, 2, and 3, commencing on 18 October. These classes for 8-12 year olds are held on Saturday mornings over 8 sessions. We also welcome those wanting to race or just sail in the afternoons. Registration and information: www.kbsc.org.au
Kingston Beach Sailing Club is an accredited Australian Sailing, Discover Sailing Centre founded in 1954. Safety for all and making sure we are all having fun whilst learning is very important to us.
Sailing gives an appreciation of our beautiful natural surroundings, an outlet for an adventurous spirit in a safe environment, and a development of self reliance and self esteem.
Numbers are limited and positions are allocated on a first come basis. Contact Jenny on 62295040 for registration and information, or email dandjgraney@outlook.com
