Dear Kingston Primary School Families,
It has been another busy and productive few weeks at Kingston Primary, filled with exciting events and significant progress across various areas of school life.
A real highlight recently was our main cast and backstage crew for the upcoming Kingston Primary Matilda Jnr - The Musical performance attending The Friends' School to watch their production of Matilda. This was an invaluable experience, providing our students with inspiration, insights into staging, and a deeper understanding of the show they are working so hard to bring to life. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and can't wait to see their own performance!
We are absolutely delighted to announce that our long-awaited outdoor Kitchen Garden project has officially received the green light and construction is set to begin very soon! This exciting initiative, which will include an Outdoor Kitchen, Classroom, Greenhouse, and additional garden beds, will be an incredible asset to our School Community. This project will not only expand our existing 24 Carrot Garden but also provide a dynamic Outdoor Learning Space where students can engage in hands-on activities, learn about food production from seed to plate, and develop essential life skills. It will undoubtedly strengthen the connection between Kingston Primary and the wider Kingston Community, fostering a deeper understanding of healthy eating and sustainable practices. We are incredibly grateful for the support that has made this fantastic project possible.
We are also thrilled to announce that two new sets of soccer goals have been approved and ordered, thanks to the wonderful support and funding from our School Association! One set will be installed in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) playground and the other on the Upper Playground Oval. These new goals will provide fantastic opportunities for our students to engage in active play and develop their soccer skills. A huge thank you to the School Association for their ongoing commitment to enhancing our school facilities.
Our 6-week Taz Kids program, designed to support student wellbeing, has successfully concluded. This initiative has provided valuable strategies and support to participating students and we have seen positive outcomes from their engagement. We are committed to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for all our students and programs like Taz Kids are integral to this.
This week our Year 5/6 classrooms held their Open Classroom event, showcasing an array of impressive student projects. It was wonderful to see such an excellent turnout from parents taking the opportunity to witness firsthand the vibrant learning environment our students experience. Open Classrooms provide a vital connection for parents, offering valuable insight into what learning looks and feels like for our students. Thank you to all the parents who attended and to our Year 5/6 Teachers for preparing such engaging displays.
Dibbles Testing has been completed for our Year 3 to 6 students. These short assessments are administered three times a year to effectively monitor each student's progress in Reading. This data is crucial in helping our Teachers tailor their instruction to meet individual student needs and ensure continued growth in Literacy.
A reminder that Mid-Year Reports will be distributed at the end of next week. These Reports provide a comprehensive overview of your child's progress throughout the first half of the year. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's Teacher if you have any questions or concerns after reviewing the report.
Looking ahead, Swimming Week for our Prep to Year 2 students will commence in Week 10 at the Kingston Pool. A detailed timetable will be released shortly. Participation in "learn to swim" programs is of paramount importance for young children. Beyond being a fun and engaging activity, swimming teaches essential water safety skills that could one day save a life. It also promotes physical fitness, builds confidence, and encourages discipline. We strongly encourage all eligible students to participate and take advantage of this vital opportunity.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support in making Kingston Primary School a thriving learning community.
Warm regards,
Chris Anagnostis
Acting Principal

On Wednesday 18 June, 3/4 New visited the Channel Museum to learn about how our community has changed. We split into 4 groups and were guided around the Museum by knowledgeable guides. We noticed the differences between the rooms in the Museum and our homes now. There were lots of items in the Museum that we did not recognise like the butter churn and the chamber pot. The old School Room was really interesting. Students role played being a student of the past and sat quietly at their desks.
After lunch we had a play at the park.
