Welcome back to a wonderful term!

A very warm welcome to Term 3 to all our students and families! We hope you had a restful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning at Kingston Primary School.

The energy around the school is wonderful, and it's fantastic to see everyone reconnecting with friends and embracing new challenges. We have a term packed with learning and events, and we can't wait to see what our students will achieve.

A huge congratulations to our incredibly talented cast and the dedicated Performing Arts department for their exciting start to rehearsals for this year's major production of Matilda! The energy and enthusiasm in the rehearsal room is infectious, and we've already been treated to some sneak peeks of the amazing talent we have on stage and behind the scenes. Tickets for this extraordinary musical are now available for purchase at https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/... with performances on September 10 and 11. Tickets are selling fast, with 50% already sold, so don’t delay - we can't wait to see you there!

With so much happening this term, it's essential to stay informed about important key dates. Parent/Carer Seminar: Navigating Friendships & Mean Behaviour

Kingston Primary is pleased to invite all parents and carers to a special seminar, "Navigating Friendships & Mean Behaviour," presented by Clinical Psychologist Lisa Ford. This valuable session will equip attendees with a deeper understanding and a toolbox of practical strategies to support their children. The seminar will cover key topics such as discussing developmental trends in friendships, unpacking mean behaviour and bullying, empowering children to problem-solve, and exploring the role of empathy.

In addition to the evening seminar for parents and carers, Lisa Ford will also be spending the day at the school running a series of workshops with our Year 5-6 students. These sessions will provide students with a safe and engaging space to discuss and develop their own strategies for navigating friendships and mean behaviour.

We encourage all parents and carers to join us on Monday 4 August from 6.00pm  to 7:30pm in the School Library. Please click on the link below to secure your spot:

The Growing Up Program (GUP)

We would also like to inform parents and guardians about the upcoming Growing Up Program (GUP), a school-based program designed for students from Kindergarten through to Year 6. Facilitated by an experienced team of Family Planning Tasmania educators, GUP covers important topics such as consent, puberty, reproduction, identity and protective behaviours. The program is age-appropriate, sequential, and evidence-based, and is mapped to the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework. All parents and guardians are also warmly invited to a special information session to be held in the School Library at 8:30am on Monday 4 August, where you can ask any specific questions to our facilitators. If you are unable to be here on Monday morning, please click on the link below for more specific information on what will be covered.

GUP is designed to encourage positive and effective communication between students, caregivers and the school.

Hot Lunch Program

We are thrilled to announce that our Hot Lunch Program has been extended, and will run for four days beginning next term! This exciting news means all of our students will now receive a delicious and nutritious hot lunch once a week.

The launch of the program this year has been a magnificent success, with wonderful aromas wafting from the Canteen and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, staff and community members. A huge thank you goes to Wendy and her incredible team for their tireless efforts, dedication and delicious meals. Their hard work ensures our students are well-nourished, socialising together over a shared meal, and ready to learn.

LiL and Kindergarten 2026

We've also had the pleasure of welcoming new families to our amazing Launching into Learning space. It's always wonderful to see our community grow and to provide a nurturing start for our newest students. Launching into Learning is free for all children aged 0-4, and is a great precursor to children starting formal education in Kindergarten.

To secure a place for your child in our 2026 Kindergarten classes, we urge all families with children turning five next year (born in 2021) to complete their enrolment as soon as possible, as our classes are already at 75% capacity. Please click on the link below to ensure a place and our fabulous Admin Team will be in contact.
