Dear Families,
As we approach the end of our first Term, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and share some reflections on our successful year to date.
Throughout this term our dedicated teachers, staff, students and community volunteers have worked tirelessly to create a thriving and dynamic learning environment. Building upon the existing positive culture at Kingston Primary is something that I am passionate about, and I am incredibly proud of the hard work and commitment demonstrated by each member of our School Community.
Our students have shown remarkable resilience and an eagerness to learn, embracing new challenges and opportunities for growth. This has been acutely demonstrated in their achievements around Reading. Their accomplishments, both academically and personally have been nothing short of inspiring. They have exemplified the values of dedication, perseverance and a love for learning.
Our teachers and staff have been the driving force inspiring the achievements of our students. Their passion for education, innovative teaching methods and unwavering support have created an atmosphere where every student can thrive. I extend my thanks to our Educators for their dedication to nurturing our students' potential.
As we look ahead to the next Term, I am filled with excitement, particularly with the anticipated completion of the Child and Family Learning Centre which will then lead into the beginning of the 24 Carrot Garden expansion project.
I encourage you to take this time to celebrate your child's achievements and to reflect on their growth and development over the past Term. Your ongoing support and involvement in your child's education are invaluable to us.
Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating and caring for your children. I look forward to the continued partnership between our school and our wonderful community, and I am confident that together, we will achieve even greater success as the year progresses.

I would also like to extend a sincere thanks to the Association for committing fundraising efforts to support the following within our school;
- Continuing to fund the Breakfast Club Program;
- Making a contribution to the 2024 Leavers Jumpers;
- Continuing to support the Swimming Program for students in Prep to Year Five;
- Funding crucial resources that have enabled the school to overhaul current resources and support the school Reading priority.
On behalf of the Kingston Primary School staff and students, I would like to thank our School Association members for attending meetings regularly, giving up their own time to organise initiatives such as the successful fundraising drives and for the positive change you are assisting in making to our School Community. I would also like to extend our thanks to the Fundraising Team for supporting our incredibly successful fundraiser this Term. Your ongoing support of our school and all that we do is valued. We really appreciate you all for your time, dedication and commitment.
Communication at Kingston Primary School
Our dedicated staff is committed to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment for all students. At Kingston Primary School we use a variety of communication tools to share updates to our entire community. We fundamentally believe communication between home and school is crucial for a successful academic journey. As you would all now be aware, we have moved away from written comments in reports to share student ‘Evidence of Learning’. This will be shared via our online communication platform Seesaw. On receiving this communication, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Our other important school communication platforms are as follows:
- Schoolzine – whole school messaging
- Seesaw – classrooms teachers’ direct line of communication with all families and a space to share student learning.
- Facebook/Instagram – whole school reminders and a space to share whole school successes and celebrations.
- Newsletter- important whole school messaging
- School/Principal email- an avenue to contact staff or provide crucial feedback to our team of Educators
Student Leadership Team 2024
The leadership of a school takes an entire team and at Kingston Primary School the student body plays an important role in this team.
I am extremely privileged to lead and to learn with an extraordinary group of students as a part of the Student Leadership Team for 2024. The team’s main goal is to continually talk to all students to ensure their voice is represented in all decisions made when we work to improve this fabulous school of ours.
All members of this team have the responsibility of meeting Ms Dobson several times throughout the Term to brainstorm and discuss ideas of ways to incorporate student voice into all that we do. The Leadership Team already have met to discuss exciting ideas on what they would like to achieve and leave as their parting legacy at Kingston Primary School. Stay tuned.
Kindergarten 2025
Please see below for information regarding our Pre-kinder Sessions for our students that we will welcome into our School Community in 2025. These sessions are really important in creating a welcoming environment for our youngest students and allows families to familiarise themselves with the classroom and ask key questions of our Early Year’s Educators. In 2025 we plan to have two Kindergarten classes and our classes are nearly at capacity. We strongly encourage any prospective families to collect a 2025 Kingston Primary School enrolment pack from the school office, which includes important information and some helpful activities for families to complete with their children.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable break, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for our school.

As it states on Decodable Readers Australia:
‘The SECRET of getting kids to read… Give them books they CAN actually read!’
At the last School Association meeting a motion was passed to assist with funding the Decodable Readers Australia subscription, the new reading technology (ABC Reading Eggs subscription expired). Decodable Readers provide an extensive range of products that are designed to be matched to a child’s developing knowledge of Phonics. As per some of the parent’s feedback, there has been phenomenal growth in the students’ Phonics and Vocabulary since the introduction of Readers.
Decodable Readers Australia is the only beginner reader series to offer 8 levels with 20 books in each level of the Main Fiction series, and 10 books per level in the Early Readers and Non-fiction series, allowing children a variety of Decodable Readers to master each set of Phonics before progressing.
Kingston Primary School Association believes that funding the introduction of Decodable Readers to Kingston Primary School will enhance not only the Literacy results around the region but also support parents to guide and support their children through their ‘learning to read’ journey.

In 1-2 Holmstrom we have been thinking about our feelings. We know that it is okay and normal to have different feelings and that we have to learn how to manage our feelings without making others feel yucky. We use the Zones of Regulation to help us with this and made our own emoji posters for the different zones. Can you guess which zone we are all in?
