Whats on at the PCYC
Dear Families,
Welcome back to the new school year! We hope you had a restful break and are ready for the academic challenges and successes that lie ahead. Whether you are a returning family or new to our school community, we are pleased to have you with us and thank you for choosing us to nurture your child’s education. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment for all students. Open communication between home and school is crucial for a successful academic journey so please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Our school communication platforms are as follows:
- Schoolzine – whole school messaging;
- Seesaw – classrooms teachers’ direct line of communication with all families and a space to share student learning;
- Facebook/Instagram – whole school reminders and a space to share whole school successes and celebrations;
- Newsletter – important whole school messaging issued on a fortnightly basis;
- School/Principal email – an avenue to contact staff or provide crucial feedback to our team of educators.
In addition to the academic focus we are thrilled to announce a lineup of exciting school events planned throughout the year. From engaging workshops to fun-filled family nights, these events aim to foster a sense of community and provide opportunities for families to connect with one another. Our goal is to work in partnership with all community members, recognising the importance of collaboration between home and school in a child's education. We encourage your active involvement in school activities and we value the contribution each family brings to our community. Our first key event is scheduled for Thursday 29 February with our Meet & Greet BBQ. We will be providing a free family BBQ, but in addition, community members are invited to meet classroom teachers and spend time in the classroom space. For the evening to run smoothly, we have made the following schedule for the meet and greet in the classroom.
Classroom Meet and Greet Schedule
- Kinder/Prep: 3.00 – 3.15 pm
- Year 1-2: 3.15 – 3.30 pm
- Year 3-4: 3.30 – 3.45 pm
- Year 5-6: 3.45 – 4.00pm
On behalf of the staff, I am really excited to work together to make 2024 a memorable and rewarding experience for our students.
The start of the school year has brought several staffing additions and changes to Kingston Primary and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome those changes and new staff to our school.
- Colin Williams – Year 5-6
- Louise Mackintosh – Year 1-2
- Jon Parrott – STEM/Art
All teachers come with a wealth of teaching experience and bring an enthusiastic approach to education. We feel very fortunate they chose to become a part of our community, which is a credit to the culture of learning and community connections we continue to foster at Kingston Primary School.
That’s all from me this week. Wishing everyone a productive and positive school year ahead.

We are pleased to announce the opening of the lower carpark for the Kingston Primary School community. We ask that all parents and friends who will be utilising any of the parking on site to please obtain a permit, as the carparks will be patrolled regularly by the Kingborough Council. Cars not displaying a permit will be issued a fine by the Kingborough Council. These permits will be available at the school office, and they will also be handed out by staff in the Pick-up Zone over the next two weeks. Feel free to grab some extra permits for other family members. The aim is to ensure our carpark spaces are strictly reserved for our Kingston Primary School community.

Student Information Validation Forms and Information and Computer (ICT) Agreements were sent home recently. Departmental policy stipulates that every child in our school has these current documents on file. If you haven't already done so, please complete, sign and return them to the office as soon as possible.
Welcome to a new year of Canteen at Kingston Primary School.
Due to frequent and generous donations we have been able to keep costs as low as possible, but for the Canteen to remain sustainable into the future it has been necessary to make some changes and to increase some costs on our menu this year.
Toasties will now be available to order on Tuesdays, but not Fridays. Juice will also be available on Tuesdays. This gives our Kinder children a chance to order items. No Counter sales or any other item will be available on this day.
On Fridays all items (except Toasties) will be available to order as usual. If a frozen item is ordered a voucher will be issued to your child before Recess.
QKR App and cash orders are available on both Canteen days.
Reusable Lunch Order Bags are available through the Canteen and Uniform Shop or via the QKR app. Reusable Lunch Order Bags should be placed in the Lunch Order Boxes in each classroom at the start of the day. Please ensure Reusable Lunch Order Bags are emptied before the following order day.
Please take a few moments to update your child/ren details on QKR. Several orders were sent to the wrong classroom last week as the last year's teacher name had not been changed.
