Dear Families,
Harmony Week – Everyone Belongs
A highlight each year at Kingston Primary School is our school recognising the importance of Harmony Week, with the 2025 theme being ‘Everyone Belongs’.
Harmony Week at Kingston Primary was a resounding success this year, culminating in a vibrant and delicious shared lunch on Friday. This week's celebrations served as a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusivity, respect and belonging within our diverse community. By embracing different cultures and perspectives, we strengthen the bonds that make KPS and its community such a special place for everyone.
A huge thank you to Ms Paine and Wendy for their organisation and invaluable support and to every family who contributed a dish, a smile or a helping hand. Your collective effort made the shared lunch a truly memorable and heartwarming event, reflecting the true spirit of Harmony Week.
2025 School Association
A warm welcome to our newly elected School Association Team for 2025! Please see a list of our official Association positions below. We are incredibly grateful for your commitment and the energy you bring to Kingston Primary. Your willingness to dedicate your time and expertise is invaluable and we deeply appreciate your partnership in shaping the future of our school. We look forward to working closely with you and we value the important voice you provide in guiding the strategic direction of KPS.
Chair: Simone Allison
Secretary: Ange Quinn
Treasurer: Dheeraj (DJ)
Vice Chair: Claire Jones
A reminder that School Association meetings are open to all and everyone is welcome to attend and contribute in shaping our school. The next meeting is on Thursday 15 May at 6.00pm in the Kingston Primary School Library.
Thank you to all who attend in volunteering your valuable time to our students and our community.
Term One Reporting
A friendly reminder to all parents that Primary Progress Reports were sent home with students this afternoon. In addition to these reports you will also receive Evidences of Learning for both English and Maths over the coming week, showcasing your child's progress against year-level expectations.
We have also timetabled opportunities for you to meet and chat with your child's Teacher next week. These conversations are invaluable, providing a chance to strengthen the connection between home and school and to gain a deeper understanding of your child's learning journey. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect and collaborate with your child's Teacher. Bookings can be made by clicking the link below. Our booking system will be open until midnight tonight.

Kindergarten 2026
In 2026 we are planning to have two Kindergarten classes. If you have a Kindergarten aged child for 2026 (a child turning five in 2026), it is vital that you collect an Enrolment Form from the School Office and return it as soon as possible so we can secure your enrolment. We also welcome our prospective students and families for our 2026 Kinder intake to join Mrs Jess Suffolk and Ms Ange Crane for a school tour on Friday 4 April beginning at 2.00pm. However bookings are essential. To register, please visit: https://forms.office.com/r/5DHW5JJLTZ or contact the School Office via 6229 5728.
Our Pre-Kinder sessions will commence in Term 2 on a Friday at 2.00pm, offering a wonderful opportunity for your little ones to begin their transition to school. These sessions are designed to foster familiarity with the school environment, build confidence and develop essential social and emotional skills. By participating, children will have the chance to interact with future classmates, engage in play-based learning and become comfortable with our dedicated educators. These early experiences are invaluable in ensuring a smooth and positive start to their Kindergarten journey, laying a strong foundation for their future learning. We look forward to welcoming you and your child!
We will start allocating 2026 Kindergarten children into classes soon, and want to make sure we have included all of our current families who have siblings in older grades. If you have any questions around this process, or your child’s placement for 2026, do not hesitate in contacting Ms Crane at school directly or via email – angela.crane@decyp.tas.gov.au. We will look forward to meeting all our fabulous Kindergarten students later in the year when we host an Orientation Morning.
With warmth,
Ange Crane

This Term in Science, 3/4 Fone has been learning about the various interactions between the living things in ecosystems. We have been exploring the roles of producers, consumers and decomposers in environments, including how energy is created and flows through food chains, the relationship between predators and prey, and the importance of detritovores. Highlights have been learning how to create a scientific diagram, as well as being able to use our own class pet stick insects and the school’s Little Bush area for fascinating real-life examples. We are looking forward to our excursion to the Marine Discovery Centre at the end of Week 8 to continue deepening our learning in the biological sciences!
School Photos will be on Tuesday 8 April and Wednesday 9 April. The cut-off date for family (sibling) photo orders is this coming Wednesday 2 April at 3.00pm.
