Dear Families,
As we wrap up another wonderful Term we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued partnership with Kingston Primary School. Your unwavering support and involvement have played a crucial role in making this Term such a success. We are incredibly proud of all our learners and everything they have accomplished. Their hard work, resilience and enthusiasm have shone brightly and we couldn’t be more excited to see them continue to grow and succeed in Term 4.
Launching into Learning
Launching into Learning is a free program for families for children from birth to 4 years of age. We know children learn so much in the early years of life and Launching into Learning provides opportunities for you to give your child the very best start. Sessions are run by our Early Years Educators, Mrs Anita Grey and Mrs Jess Suffolk. These sessions allow our little learners enrolled for Kindergarten next year to become familiar, comfortable and connected to what will be their place of learning. Please follow our school Facebook page, Kingston Primary School for regular updates.
Pre-Kinder Sessions
Next term we will be commencing Pre-Kinder sessions for those children who are enrolled in Kindergarten in 2025. These sessions are a fantastic opportunity to become part of our School Community, to build familiarity with the school environment, to lay the foundation of strong friendships and partnerships before next year, and where Parents/Carers will have the opportunity to spend time with their children engaging in learning through play. Dates for our Pre-Kinder sessions are listed on the newsletter calendar and are in a separate article below.
For those who are yet to enrol your child in Kindergarten, we only have five places left! If you have a Kinder-aged child for 2025 (a child turning five in 2025) it is vital that you collect an Enrolment Pack from the School Office and return it to the Office as soon as possible so we can secure your enrolment. We start allocating Kindergarten children into classes next Term and want to make sure we have included all of our current families who have siblings in older grades. If you have any questions around this process or your child’s enrolment for 2025 do not hesitate in contacting Ms Crane at school directly or via email – angela.crane@decyp.tas.gov.au.
Based on parent and community feedback we have made a slight change to our Parent/Carer Expo and Information Session. Instead of holding a separate Expo we have invited all our services including our Speech Pathologist, Social Worker, School Psychologist, Out of School Hours Care and our Uniform Shop representative to attend each Pre-Kinder session. We hope this change will ensure we capture all families and time taken outside of our families' already busy lives will be limited to our Pre-Kinder sessions only. Mrs Anita Grey and Mrs Jess Suffolk will be on hand at each of these sessions to ensure our Pre-Kindergarten students are engaged and entertained, with the aim to allow parents to ask any burning questions they may still have of our service providers. In the meantime if you have any questions feel free to contact Anita Grey, Jess Suffolk or the School Office. We look forward to seeing you soon!
2025 Class Requests
At this time of the year we start planning for the next year class models, staffing and student allocation into classes. Teachers are inputting vitally important academic and social data to ensure we have the best placement for your child in 2025. In October we start creating our 2025 classes by allocating students into classes. We do not accept parent requests for specific teachers. However if there is an educational reason for requesting a particular class please email me angela.crane@decyp.tas.gov.au before 18 October. While requests are not guaranteed, we try to accommodate these wherever possible.
Please stay connected through our fortnightly newsletter, Social Media posts, Schoolzine, Seesaw or simply drop in and have a chat with one of our fabulous team.
That’s all from me this week. Have a wonderful Term break.

In Japanese, students across Grade 3-6 have worked hard on their Self-Introduction Speeches. Two students from each grade entered the Statewide speech contest. Good luck to our representatives from Kingston Primary!
Earlier in the Term Grade 3/4s made their own "Hachimaki”. Hachimaki are traditional Japanese headbands made of red and white cloth, featuring a design of Kanji at the front.
More recently Grade 5/6 were very keen to try their hand at making “Onigiri”, a rice ball with fillings wrapped in seaweed. They were fun to make and enjoyed by almost everyone!
We are excited to launch a brand new fundraiser - Expressions – Tea Towels & Aprons.
