Issue 10, 26 July 2024, Week 1 Term 3
Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 3! I trust you have all had a restful break and are ready for the Term ahead. We have an eventful 10 weeks ahead of us. It has been lovely to see so many smiling faces arrive this week ready to tackle new learning experiences already. We are excited for what is in front of us, including important assessment occurring in preparation for Term 3 Reporting which will see our Classroom Teachers share Evidence of Learning with parents as well as Parent Teacher Discussions. Other fabulous events include Open Classrooms and exciting opportunities planned for our students through class excursions - just to name a few of the upcoming activities on our calendar! Make sure you are checking in with our fortnightly School Newsletter, our Facebook page, our Instagram page, Seesaw and our School Communication App (Szapp) to ensure you don’t miss out on updates of these exciting events.
A common theme that is documented within our School Plans, and communicated across our various platforms, is our goal of strengthening the learning partnership between home and school. The growth in this partnership was again evident when we held our Parent Teacher Discussions last term. A big thank you to each and every one of you for your participation. We are very grateful to everyone who took the time to book a slot with our teachers. Your active engagement in your child's education is invaluable and the feedback we've received has been positive. We want to continue to build the relationship between home and school. Our next round of Parent Teacher Discussions will take place in Week 9 (beginning 9 September) of this Term.
Launching into Learning
Launching into Learning is a free program for families with children from birth to 4 years of age. We know children learn a lot in the early years of life and Launching into Learning provides opportunities for you to give your child the very best start. Sessions are run by our Early Years Educators Mrs Anita Grey and Mrs Jess Suffolk. We have now moved our sessions for Term 3 and 4 to our newly renovated Kindergarten space as well as including an out and about experience. The change in these sessions will allow our little learners enrolled for Kindergarten next year to become familiar, comfortable and connected to what will be their place of learning. Please follow our school Facebook page, Kingston Primary School for regular updates.
In the meantime, if you have any questions feel free to contact Anita Grey, Jess Suffolk or the School Office. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Important Reminder: Road Safety
We have received numerous reports from parents and community members expressing concerns about students' safety on their way to and from school. This includes students who are walking and those riding bikes. Safety should always be our top priority. Here are some key reminders to discuss with your child:
Walking to School: When crossing the road, please remember to look in all directions. Look left, right, and then left again, and cross only when it is safe to do so.
Riding Bikes: Before crossing any road, make sure to come to a complete stop. Look in all directions and ensure it is safe before proceeding. Children should always wear a safety helmet while riding a bike. Your safety is paramount, and taking these simple steps can make a big difference.
That’s all from me this week. Stay warm!

In Term 2 our Science Inquiry was a focus on the conditions that animals need to survive and thrive. We focussed on Australian Animals and had a fantastic excursion to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where we got to see and interact with the animals we had been learning about. We learnt lots of new things by observing the animals and their habitats and by asking lots of questions to the experts who were showing us around.
If you have a Kinder-aged child for 2025 (a child turning five in 2025), it is vital that you collect an enrolment form from the office and return it as soon as possible so we can secure your enrolment.
We will start allocating 2025 Kindergarten children into classes soon and want to make sure we have included all of our current families who have siblings in older grades. Spots are filling quickly. If you have any questions around this process,
or your child’s placement for 2025, do not hesitate in contacting Miss Crane directly or via email – angela.crane@decyp.tas.gov.au.
